An adult is a human or other animal that has attained full growth.The biological meaning of the word means an animal reaching sexual maturity, which makes it capable of reproduction. In the context of humans, the term adult has implications that are based on the legal and social world. An adult who is legally mature is, as opposed to "minors" or non-adults are those who are of the majority age and thus considered to be independent, responsible as well as autonomous. Also known as "majors" They can also be thought as having reached the age of majority. It is generally accepted that the threshold at which an individual legally matures is 18. But, it can be different based on rights under the law and countries as well as psychological development.

Adulthood refers to the period that a person has reached full maturation in both physical and mental growth. Adulthood, as it is typically understood, is at the age of either 20 or 21. Mid-life, beginning at about 40 years, is followed by the age of 60 years old. The three major stages of adulthood include early adulthood (from mid-30s to late-60s) and middle adulthood, from mid-30s to late-60s and later adulthood (mid-60s up to the time of death). As we enter early adulthood we have reached its full physical maturity. Yet, our body's size and weight could increase. In the early years of adulthood, we attain the highest level of physical abilities.
